Make memories that last for ever

Imagine a winter holiday where little ones can make their first turns in the snow, parents can relax knowing everything has been designed with families in mind, and every day brings a new adventure to share. High on a sunny plateau in the Tyrolean Alps, the three mountain villages of Serfaus, Fiss and Ladis combine snow-sure skiing, warm Austrian hospitality and outstanding family facilities to create the kind of holiday memories that stay with you long after you return home.

Where winter becomes family time

Children really are at the heart of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis. Across 214 kilometres of slopes, there is terrain for everyone from complete beginners to confident skiers, while around 125,000 square metres of dedicated children’s snow areas give younger visitors plenty of space to learn through play. Both local ski schools are multi-award-winning, with instructors who put children’s individual needs first and make learning to ski fun.

With around 2,000 hours of sunshine each year and skiing from 1,200 metres up to 2,828 metres, families can enjoy both a wonderfully sunny setting and excellent snow reliability. Getting around is refreshingly easy too: Serfaus has its own small, driverless underground railway and, importantly for families with babies and toddlers, all lifts are suitable for pushchairs in winter, with lift staff on hand to help.

First turns, big adventures

For children discovering skiing for the first time, Murmlipark and the newly redesigned Murmlis Kinderalm in Serfaus, together with Bertas Kinderland in Fiss-Ladis, turn learning into an adventure. Young skiers can practise with friendly mascots Murmli and Berta, while the two specialist ski schools use highly regarded teaching methods to build confidence step by step.

New for winter 2026/27, Murmlis Kinderalm has been lovingly modernised with themed magic carpets and Murmli’s friends Fiona, Bruno and Ingo joining the fun. Once those first turns are coming together, children can take on the new Murmli’s Family Piste, a playful family-friendly run with the characters appearing along the way and a special photo point waiting at the finish.

Parents will appreciate the practical details too. During ski courses, children can be looked after over lunchtime at Starrest and Murmlirest in Serfaus or Bertas Kindervilla in Fiss-Ladis. And for children who are too young to ski, professional childcare means parents can still enjoy some time on the slopes: Murmli Crèche in Serfaus welcomes little ones from age one, while Berta’s Kindergarten in Fiss cares for babies from just three months.

More than skiing

Not everyone wants to spend every minute on skis – and in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis there is no need to. More than 100 kilometres of prepared winter walking trails and themed paths offer a gentler way to explore the snowy landscape, while families can also try snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and more than eight kilometres of toboggan runs through beautiful mountain and forest scenery.

For a completely different view of the mountains, climb aboard the Masner Express. This converted piste groomer carries up to 17 passengers into the spectacular Masner area without the need for skis or a snowboard – a particularly appealing adventure for families with non-skiers in the group.

Family fun after the lifts close

The adventures do not have to stop at the end of the ski day. Every Thursday, Kids Night in Fiss brings games, a children’s cinema, a magic show and plenty of entertainment, alongside the illuminated Hexen (Witches) toboggan run. Elsewhere, Adventure Night in Serfaus and Nightflow in Fiss turn the mountains into spectacular evening stages with ski shows, freestyle performances, music and light effects for the whole family.

Little details make a big difference

Family-friendly holidays are often made by the practical touches, and Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis has thought carefully about what parents need. The Sonnenburg family restaurant, just above Bertas Kinderland, combines stone-baked pizzas with a large playroom and Berta’s Ski TV – ideal when small legs need a rest.

Investment continues across the resort too. For winter 2026/27, the new eight-seater Planseggbahn chairlift brings extra comfort with heated seats, weather-protection covers and a child-safe closing bar, while the rebuilt Komperdell panoramic restaurant offers more space and an improved self-service area.

Moments that last

Perhaps the best thing about a family winter holiday here is that the memorable moments do not have to be complicated: a child’s first successful turn, rosy cheeks after a toboggan ride, hot chocolate with a mountain view or simply watching the snow sparkle in the sunshine. Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is designed to make those moments easier to find – bringing together adventure, comfort and genuine family time in one of the Alps’ most welcoming winter regions.
